The Berliet VIRL 11CV Dauphine from 1934 represents a fine example of French interwar automotive design. Although Berliet is best known for trucks and military vehicles, the company also produced elegant passenger cars. The 11CV is one of the rarer surviving models, featuring body lines characteristic of French engineering of its era.

This example remains in a largely original and unrestored condition, with many authentic components still present. Paintwork and body show age-related wear, and while the engine runs, it requires tuning and further attention.

Restoration & originality

    • Filler detaching under the grille

  • Soft top aged and dry but usable.

    • Oil leak

    • Runs but needs adjustment

    • Leaking coolant hose

    • Blow between manifold and exhaust

    • Does not idle without choke

    • Carburettor requires tuning

  • Well maintained per last check.

Battery

  • In good order.

Clutch & gearbox

  • Both function correctly.

Brakes

  • Repairs required (poor braking right front and left rear).

Electrical system

  • Dashboard operational.

  • Horn inoperative.

  • Vehicle does not charge.

Lights

  • No front position lights.

  • Indicators connected to light switch.

  • Repair required; play in both front kingpins.
