• Belgian registration documents
The Mercedes-Benz 170 SA is one of the rarest and most elegant versions of the legendary 170 series. As an exclusive two-seat convertible, it combines Mercedes-Benz's renowned build quality with timeless styling and a truly distinguished character. Thanks to its limited production and authentic appearance, the 170 SA is now highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
This exceptional example was delivered new in Belgium and has remained in its home country throughout its entire life. Originally owned by a flax merchant from Kortrijk, the car was seized following the owner's bankruptcy and subsequently stored in a private collection for almost 60 years, without ever being re-registered. At the time of the bankruptcy, the vehicle suffered from a mechanical defect.
Only a few days before the bankruptcy, however, the engine had been completely overhauled. The original engine running-in sticker, showing the corresponding mileage, is still present today. The restoration sticker applied to the windscreen in 2024 has also been preserved, documenting the recent recommissioning work.
Between 2024 and 2026, the car was carefully returned to roadworthy condition while preserving its originality. All wear components were overhauled or replaced where necessary, allowing this exceptional Mercedes-Benz to return to the road without compromising its authentic character.
Xavier's Opinion: "A Belgian Mercedes with a truly remarkable story. Delivered new in Belgium, preserved in a single private collection for almost sixty years, and recently recommissioned with great respect for its originality. Cars like this are exceptionally rare. On top of that, the 170 SA is a far rarer two-seat convertible than most enthusiasts realise, making it a unique opportunity for collectors looking for an authentic Mercedes-Benz with a documented history."
