The Jaguar 420 G is one of the most luxurious and imposing models ever produced by Jaguar. As the successor to the Mark X, it combined an exceptionally spacious interior with the legendary 4.2-litre XK inline-six engine, refined driving characteristics and timeless British styling. In its day, the 420 G was one of the very first luxury sports saloons to combine exceptional comfort with impressive performance—a true wolf in sheep's clothing, long before the arrival of the BMW M models and Mercedes-AMG.
This 1969 example has benefited from a high-quality older professional restoration and is finished in the elegant Royal Claret, a deep burgundy shade that is often mistakenly described as black or dark purple. It is powered by the renowned 4,235 cc XK inline-six engine, paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. Although the 420 G was originally supplied with an automatic transmission, this car has been professionally converted to a manual gearbox, resulting in a far more engaging and rewarding driving experience. The bodywork has been professionally repainted and presents very well, while the underside has received recent attention. Its spacious interior, refined ride and charismatic XK engine make this Jaguar a highly desirable British luxury classic. It is equally at home cruising effortlessly to a classic car event as it is delivering surprisingly spirited performance whenever the driver asks for it. Remarkably, for a Jaguar from the 1960s, virtually all electrical equipment is still fully operational, something rarely found on cars of this generation.
