The Buick Special was produced from 1930 to 1950, then from 1961 to 1969. 5 generations have followed one another.
The Buick 40 series appears in 1930, replacing the Master Six. It is equipped with a six-cylinder engine. But in 1931, a new engine appears : a 3.8-liter in-line eight cylinder which originally fit the larger 50 series, before equipping the entire range. This 50 series ended up disappearing in 1936. The economic crisis caused by the crash of 1929 sees production weaken: it goes from 3rd to 5th place in four years. A new model makes its appearance: an 8-cylinder available in several body styles, sports coupe, business coupe, 4 or 2-door sedan. In 1935, a convertible is added to the range. This series represents more than 65% of all the brand's ranges.
The next generation will be called the Buick Special.
