The FN AS 24 is a light, non-armoured motorised three-wheeler made by "Fabrique Nationale de Herstal". About 400 of them were made and they were only used by the Belgian army. They were mainly used by airborne units. The AS 24 had been developed by Nicolas Straussler and the first vehicle was produced in Germany. FN bought a licence and took the vehicle into production. The Belgian army needed a vehicle small and light enough to be transported by plane and parachute. The last vehicle was made in 1967. The vehicle had three wheels, with only the rear two being driven. The two-stroke engine was placed between the rear wheels. The two cylinders have a displacement of 245 cc and a power of 15 hp. The gearbox has four forward gears. The driver and passengers sit side by side in front of the engine. Next to the driver, there is room for three passengers or 250 kilograms of cargo. A trailer was also designed. This had two wheels and can carry a maximum load of 250 kilograms. The petrol tank has a capacity of 10.5 litres and this gives the vehicle a range of 200 kilometres.
