The BMW 2000 Touring is a characterful classic from the early 1970s, combining the typical BMW styling of that era with the more practical Touring body style. Its compact proportions, classic design and manual gearbox provide an authentic driving experience that perfectly suits the character of this generation of BMW.
This example was first registered on 29 March 1973 and is finished in Orange. The displayed mileage is 12,011 km. According to the inspection report, the car is in very good condition following a recent professional restoration. The bodywork was professionally repainted and the underside is original and in good condition, with an honest overall presentation. The interior presents well and remains original, while the carpets are in used condition.
Mechanically, the car is in good condition. The engine is described as an older but good restoration and the car has been well maintained. The clutch and 5-speed manual gearbox operate correctly, as do the brakes, handbrake, electrical system, lighting and suspension. There are a few points requiring attention: the tyres date from 2018 and, despite having good tread, are now of limited use due to their age, the battery will need replacement in the foreseeable future, and the car tends to run hot when idling for prolonged periods. A CO value of 6.5 was also measured, which is too high.
The car is supplied with Belgian registration documents and a Belgian Car-Pass.
Xavier's quote:
"Although the Touring originally came from Glas, which was later acquired by BMW, some older BMW enthusiasts still claim it is not a ‘real’ BMW. I disagree. The practical three-door layout is surprisingly useful even today, and you could actually consider it a predecessor of the hot hatches of the 1980s. With the 2.0-litre engine, it was also quite fast for its time. The 5-speed gearbox is a nice improvement: it gives the car more breathing room and makes it quieter and more pleasant to drive, including on the motorway."
