The Plymouth Fury was built from 1956 to 1960 as a full-size automobile. The first two years it was a sporty version of the Belvedere. It was only available in a two-door coupe version without uprights (“2 door hardtop coupe”), in light beige, with gold-colored anodized aluminum inserts. The Fury becomes a full-fledged model from the 1959 vintage and will constitute the top-of-the-range model of Plymouth (notably in its Sport Fury and Gran Fury versions) until 1973 for five generations only Sport Fury and Gran Fury of varying success. Following the oil shock of 1973, that is from 1974 to 1978, the name Fury continued to be used by a Plymouth of the intermediate series, with an increasingly weak success which ended up convincing only the administrations.
